Software Engineer II – Java

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II with strong Java expertise to join an agile team at JPMorgan Chase. In this role you will help design, develop, and maintain secure, stable, and scalable software components that support the firm’s technology products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and troubleshoot software solutions using Java and related technologies.
• Write secure, high‑quality code with limited guidance and adhere to coding standards.
• Leverage enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted development tools for code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation.
• Collaborate with upstream and downstream teams to understand system implications and ensure integration.
• Apply SDLC tools and automation to improve development efficiency.
• Analyze large data sets to identify issues and support decision‑making for stable application development.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience developing Java applications in a corporate environment.
• Experience with AI‑assisted coding tools and ability to validate AI‑generated outputs.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with the full Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies such as CI/CD.
