Software Engineer II

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial & Investment Bank – Payments Technology team. In this agile team you will design, develop and maintain software components that power the firm’s cutting‑edge payment products, ensuring security, stability and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop secure, high‑quality code in at least one programming language with limited guidance.
• Leverage enterprise‑authorized AI coding assistance tools for code generation, refactoring, unit‑test creation and documentation, validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
• Design, code, and troubleshoot components while considering upstream and downstream system impacts.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI‑assisted automation, to improve development efficiency.
• Analyze large, diverse data sets to identify issues and support decision‑making for stable application development.
• Follow secure coding standards and responsible AI usage throughout the development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in system design, application development, testing and operational stability.
• Experience developing, debugging and maintaining code in a large corporate environment.
• Proficiency with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and validate AI‑generated code outputs.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity and security expectations.
