Software Engineer II – Agile Development

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is looking for a Software Engineer II to join the Corporate & Investment Bank, Merchant Services team. You will work in an agile environment, designing, building, and maintaining secure, stable, and scalable software components that power the firm’s cutting‑edge technology products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and troubleshoot software solutions with limited guidance.
• Write secure, high‑quality code in at least one modern programming language.
• Leverage enterprise‑authorized AI coding assistants for code generation, refactoring, unit‑test creation, and documentation.
• Design components with awareness of upstream and downstream system impacts.
• Utilize the full Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI‑driven automation, to improve delivery speed and reliability.
• Apply AI tools to accelerate incident triage, post‑incident analysis, and operational data handling while respecting security requirements.
• Analyze large data sets to identify problems, drive decision‑making, and enhance application stability.
• Identify recurring operational toil and reliability risks, prioritizing improvements that meet measurable SLO outcomes.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database querying languages.
• Proven ability to evaluate and validate outputs from AI‑assisted development tools.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
• Experience with database querying languages (e.g., SQL).
• Hands‑on use of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted coding, testing, or documentation tools.
