Software Development Engineer – India Operations

About the role

Amazon’s Global-focused Operations Technology Solutions (ARTS) team is looking for experienced Software Development Engineers to help reinvent supply‑chain operations across India and other emerging markets. You will design, build and maintain distributed software that improves inventory allocation, fulfillment center layout, truck planning and more.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain web applications, backend services, cloud architectures and machine‑learning solutions.
• Implement worldwide technology locally and invent novel software solutions for inventory distribution, return logistics, fulfillment‑center planning, and truck routing.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams across India, Japan, China, Mexico and other regions to translate business problems into scalable software.
• Produce technical design documents, drive consensus with stakeholders, and write comprehensive unit, integration, end‑to‑end and canary tests.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability and scaling.
• Strong foundation in object‑oriented design, data structures, algorithms and problem solving.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., TypeScript, Python, Java).
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB and SQS.
• Ability to create technical solutions using UML and make informed trade‑offs.
• Experience writing unit, integration, end‑to‑end and canary tests.
