Software Development Engineer in Test – Performance Focus

About the role

Alteryx is building a next‑generation Performance Engineering Platform. In this engineering role you will create AI‑first, self‑service tools that help developers test, understand, and improve performance early in the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Build features for an agentic, AI‑first self‑service performance platform.
• Develop reusable tools, templates, scripts, SDKs, and workflows for API, UI, service, and code performance testing.
• Integrate performance checks into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows.
• Create AI‑assisted workflows for test creation, execution, result analysis, defect generation, and notifications.
• Support performance validation for critical user journeys, releases, and scale events.
• Standardize performance test inputs, outputs, thresholds, evidence, and reporting.
• Integrate with observability tools such as Datadog, logs, traces, dashboards, and reporting systems.
• Collaborate with product engineering, SRE, platform, QA, and architecture teams and contribute to documentation and onboarding material.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with automation, CI/CD, internal tools, or developer workflows.
• Understanding of APIs, distributed systems, cloud services, and service‑to‑service communication.
• Familiarity with performance testing concepts (load, spike, soak, stress, capacity, regression).
• Ability to build simple, maintainable, and reusable software.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, TypeScript, Go (or similar languages).
• Tools: k6, Locust, Grasshopper.
• Observability: Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB.
• Kubernetes and cloud‑native systems.
