SIEM Security Engineer

About the role

Ciena is seeking a SIEM Security Engineer to strengthen security monitoring across its enterprise, SaaS, and cloud environments. You will drive visibility, integrate data sources, and enhance detection capabilities while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and improve SIEM coverage for infrastructure, SaaS platforms, cloud services (Azure, AWS), firewalls, IPS/IDS, WAF, proxies, and Office 365.
• Onboard, enrich, and deploy detection logic to support security operations.
• Coordinate security recommendations and integrations with both security and non‑security stakeholders.
• Administer, patch, and upgrade security infrastructure components.
• Automate workflows using Terraform and Ansible to streamline processes.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and propose cost‑effective data filtering, routing, storage, and search solutions.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in security or related fields, with a focus on SIEM program management.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and willingness to work after hours when needed.
• Effective teamwork and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, IT or a related discipline (preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
