Senior Urban Planner

About the role

Assystem is seeking a Senior Urban Planner to lead the creation of GIS‑based master plans for industrial parks, SEZs and integrated townships in Hyderabad. The role combines strategic planning, interdisciplinary coordination and client‑facing responsibilities to deliver sustainable urban infrastructure solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare GIS‑based master plans, city master plans and development plans for leather parks, industrial corridors and SEZs.
• Conduct site assessments and develop conceptual and detailed layouts, land‑use plans and infrastructure designs following urban planning standards.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary teams (roads, water, power, waste) to integrate processing‑area facilities, parking, common infrastructure and community amenities.
• Lead and mentor a multi‑disciplinary team of planners and engineers to ensure timely project delivery.
• Utilise GIS, MSP and MS Office to produce maps, reports, presentations and implementation timelines.
• Prepare, monitor and review project reports and presentations to meet client quality expectations.
• Travel to government client offices and project sites for presentations, stakeholder consultations and project hand‑overs.
• Manage overall project aspects including client relations, sub‑consultant coordination and internal team performance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Regional Planning or Infrastructure Planning (or equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 12‑15 years (or 20+ years) of professional experience in urban/industrial planning.
• Working knowledge of construction plans, specifications and schematics.
• Commitment to diversity and equal treatment of candidates.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS software.
• Experience using MSP (project management) tools.
• Advanced MS Office skills for reporting and presentations.
