Senior Technical Java Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Technical Java Manager to lead a product software development team in Bangalore. The role combines deep Java engineering expertise with people‑management responsibilities, driving end‑to‑end delivery of semiconductor and display equipment software.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full software delivery lifecycle from requirements gathering to code release, ensuring required quality standards.
• Provide technical mentorship, define functional and design specifications, and verify implementation plans.
• Manage a team of 7‑10 developers, balancing 60 % hands‑on technical work with 40 % people‑management duties.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders, influence product owners, and operate in a multi‑site, matrixed environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (CE/EE) with 14‑20 years total experience.
• 2‑3 years of people‑management experience and at least 12 years of software development, including 10 + years in Java (8+ features).
• Proven experience in high‑level and low‑level design, code reviews, and Agile development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across time zones.
