Senior Software Engineer - Observability

About the role

Databricks is building one of the largest‑scale data and AI platforms and needs an experienced engineer to create observability solutions that give deep insight into the health and performance of its products and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Establish standards for logging, metrics, and tracing across the platform.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to identify and define metrics that reflect system and component performance.
• Build tooling and infrastructure that enables efficient emission, aggregation, storage, dashboarding, and alerting of metrics.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of observability systems.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and work to reduce incident response times.
• Analyze system expenses and optimize resource usage to lower observability costs.

Required profile

• BS or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of production‑level experience in Python, Java, Scala, C++ or similar languages.
• Proven experience developing large‑scale distributed systems.
