Senior Software Engineer – Data Platform

About the role

Databricks is building the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform. As a Senior Software Engineer in Bengaluru you will work across Backend, Distributed Data Systems (DDS) and Full‑Stack areas, contributing to core services that power millions of customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑performance services and client libraries for massive data storage on cloud back‑ends such as AWS S3 and Azure Blob Storage.
• Build reliable, scalable services using Scala, Kubernetes and data pipelines (Apache Spark, Databricks) to support pricing infrastructure and platform usage features.
• Address challenges in distributed systems, at‑scale service architecture, monitoring, workflow orchestration and developer experience.
• Contribute to DDS initiatives including Apache Spark, Data Plane Storage, Delta Lake, Delta Pipelines and performance engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of production‑level experience with languages such as Python, Java, Scala or C++.
• Proven experience building large‑scale distributed systems from scratch.
• Background working on SaaS platforms or Service‑Oriented Architectures.
