Senior R&D Engineer – Cloud Operations & Infrastructure

About the role

As a Senior Member of the R&D team, you will design, develop and operate advanced cloud‑based applications that support AVEVA’s industrial software portfolio. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with development and product teams to deliver secure, stable and scalable cloud solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop microservices and serverless functions using modern software development practices.
• Advise development teams on operational stability, security, cost optimisation and reporting for cloud solutions.
• Continuously improve DevOps processes through automation, optimisation and effective reporting.
• Respond to incidents promptly to minimise customer impact and keep stakeholders informed.
• Oversee cloud deployments, track progress and resolve or escalate release issues.
• Manage cloud environments (infrastructure as code, certificates, storage, health and backup status) to prevent service‑impacting problems.
• Ensure new services meet operational readiness standards before production hand‑over.
• Maintain compliance with security policies and stay current on industry security trends.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise to business stakeholders and maintain clear operational documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software development or DevOps/SRE, with at least 5 years focused on cloud environments.
• Strong programming background in C#.NET Core or Java.
• Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell, Node.js or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure and/or AWS platforms.
• Experience building microservices, serverless architectures and using infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
• Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation for a 24x7 global team.
