Senior Quality Lead – Windows Desktop Applications

About the role

We are seeking a senior quality lead to own the quality strategy and execution for a native Windows desktop application. The role focuses on performance, memory, CPU pressure, and inter‑process communication challenges while bridging test rigor with business impact.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of quality engineers, set testing standards and foster a culture of ownership.
• Define and execute test strategy for manual and automated coverage, balancing short‑term release needs with long‑term quality investment.
• Own testing for complex Windows‑specific areas such as multi‑window behavior, installer/update flows, performance profiling, memory‑leak detection and IPC reliability.
• Partner with engineering leads early in the development cycle to embed quality thinking and identify optimization opportunities.
• Represent the quality perspective in product discussions, shaping acceptance criteria and flagging risks from discovery through release.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software quality engineering experience, with a focus on native Windows desktop applications.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of testers, accountable for output and technical direction.
• Strong customer empathy and ability to translate product and business priorities into effective testing strategies.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate quality concerns to engineering, product and leadership.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience testing performance, memory management and stability in desktop environments.
• Practical knowledge of inter‑process communication testing and multi‑process architectures.
• Experience designing resource‑constrained test scenarios (low memory, CPU contention, sustained load).
• Familiarity with Windows‑specific testing challenges such as process lifecycle, crash recovery and installer flows.
