Senior Platform Engineer

About the role

Mastercard is a global technology company in the payments industry. The Database Engineering team is looking for a Senior Database Platform Engineer to provide technical leadership, platform strategy, automation expertise, and operational excellence across the enterprise database ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design, engineer, implement, administer and support enterprise database platforms for Mastercard applications.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, governance frameworks, operational procedures and best practices.
• Drive automation, scalability, reliability, security and developer experience initiatives.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and integrate database platforms into CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead troubleshooting, performance analysis, capacity planning, backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery activities.
• Support Oracle, Redis and PostgreSQL services across hybrid and cloud‑native environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Advanced expertise in Oracle Exadata/RAC, Redis and PostgreSQL database engineering and automation.
• Strong knowledge of platform engineering principles, cloud infrastructure and IaC tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and drive platform modernization.
