Senior Payroll Specialist

Appian’s values of intensity and excellence drive a high‑standard, collaborative environment. As a Senior Payroll Specialist you will lead payroll operations for the APAC region, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll for thousands of employees.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee monthly payroll cycles for India, Australia, Japan and Singapore.
• Process payroll for new hires, exits, promotions, transfers and variable compensation.
• Conduct audits and reconciliations to resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Collaborate with HR, finance and external vendors on onboarding documentation and payroll inputs.
• Monitor compliance with local payroll legislation and tax requirements.
• Maintain employee records in HRIS/payroll systems and respond to payroll inquiries.
• Partner with third‑party vendors and provide global payroll backup support.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen payroll system controls.
• Deliver professional customer service to employees and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, human resources or a related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of payroll experience.
• Strong execution skills, analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Excel (pivot tables, data analysis).
• Experience with Workday.
• Experience with Cloudpay.
