Senior Network Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide L3/L4 technical support for complex network and security incidents. The role will act as the escalation point for outages, performance issues, and critical business‑impacting problems while participating in 24x7 support and major incident response.

Key responsibilities

• Own incident resolution, root‑cause analysis and problem management for network outages and performance degradation.
• Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize enterprise LAN/WAN, SD‑WAN, VPN, data‑center and cloud networking platforms.
• Manage enterprise firewall and VPN infrastructure using Palo Alto Networks and Zscaler, ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Collaborate with NOC, infrastructure, cloud, security and application teams to improve monitoring, alerting and operational efficiency.
• Develop automation, documentation, diagrams and operational procedures for network operations.

Required profile

• 8+ years of enterprise networking experience, including 5+ years supporting large‑scale global environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and incident‑leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities, with experience working in globally distributed teams.

Required skills

• Enterprise LAN/WAN architecture, routing & switching (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, QoS, Multicast, HSRP/VRRP, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, NAT).
• Network security: Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Zscaler Internet Access and Private Access, VPN technologies, Zero Trust Architecture.
• Data‑center technologies: spine‑leaf, VXLAN, EVPN, load balancing (application and global).
• Cloud networking: Azure Networking, AWS Networking, hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect).
• Monitoring & automation tools: SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, ThousandEyes, Splunk, Dynatrace, Cisco DNA Center, Aruba Central.
