Senior Network Engineer / Architect

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a senior network engineer/architect to design, implement and operate secure, resilient and scalable enterprise network infrastructure across campus, data centre, manufacturing, R&D and cloud‑connected environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy enterprise WAN, LAN, WLAN, SD‑WAN, firewall and Private 5G solutions, ensuring scalability, performance and security.
• Lead detailed network designs for campus, data‑centre, manufacturing, OT and R&D environments and produce high‑ and low‑level documentation.
• Engineer and operate global WAN/SD‑WAN, optimise routing, QoS and traffic steering, and manage vendor relationships.
• Implement Private 5G and sensor network connectivity for industrial use, integrating with existing wired and wireless infrastructures.
• Configure firewalls, VPNs, ZTNA and enforce network segmentation in line with Zero‑Trust principles.
• Provide senior technical escalation support, perform root‑cause analysis and drive automation using scripting and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Own budgeting, CAPEX/OPEX planning and vendor contract negotiations for network assets.

Required profile

• 8‑12 years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with WAN, SD‑WAN, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, VPN/ZTNA and Private 5G.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud connectivity (AWS, Azure) and OT/industrial networks.
• Strong problem‑solving, independent work and clear communication skills.

Required skills

• WAN/SD‑WAN protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, DIA, cloud interconnects.
• LAN switching, VLANs, RF design and Wi‑Fi troubleshooting.
• Network security: firewalls, VPN, ZTNA, NAC, segmentation.
• Private 5G architecture and integration.
• Network monitoring, telemetry and troubleshooting tools.
• Scripting/automation and infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., Python, Ansible).
• Familiarity with ITIL, NIST or similar enterprise standards.
