Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Philips is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of mechanical components and subsystems for medical devices. The role combines hands‑on engineering, cross‑functional collaboration, and responsibility for product performance and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform physics‑based hand calculations to assess strength, stiffness and overall component performance.
• Design and select mechanical components such as motors, belts, pulleys and ball screws, ensuring proper integration with electrical and software systems.
• Develop detailed models and simulations using Matlab, Simulink and Simscape.
• Create structural designs with Ansys (or equivalent) and detailed CAD models in Creo, managing data through Windchill PDM/PLM.
• Apply manufacturability considerations for plastic, sheet‑metal and casting parts, and conduct verification and experimental testing at component and subsystem levels.

Required profile

• BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design and development of systems/subsystems that include molded plastic and sheet‑metal components.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Matlab, Simulink and Simscape.
• Experience using Ansys (or equivalent) for structural analysis.
• Advanced CAD skills in Creo (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of Windchill PDM/PLM for component lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles and IEC 60601 medical device standards.
