Senior Mechanical Engineer – GA & Piping Design (Water & Wastewater)

About the role

ASSYSTEM is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead General Arrangement (GA) development and piping design for water and wastewater treatment facilities. The role involves end‑to‑end engineering, ensuring optimal layout, constructability, and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and review mechanical equipment for pump stations, treatment plants, and related facilities, including preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates.
• Develop piping designs, routing, support philosophy, isometrics, and 3D models; select materials based on service (water, sludge, chemicals) and prepare GA drawings, P&IDs, and BOM/MTO.
• Perform stress analysis, pipe weld and test requirements, and ensure clash‑free layout planning.
• Conduct factory inspections and testing of pumps, valves, pipes, and treatment equipment.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering for water/wastewater projects.
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; additional certifications in piping design or 3D modelling preferred.
• Proven experience in EPC/PMC environments and handling vendor data, QAP, and cost estimation.
