Senior Manager, Life Underwriting

About the role

Ethos is seeking a dynamic, hands‑on Senior Manager to lead its Life Underwriting team. The role combines direct case underwriting with strategic leadership, mentorship, and process optimisation to drive high performance across domestic and international staff.

Key responsibilities

• Dedicate 50% of time to case underwriting while overseeing the broader team.
• Partner with the Chief Underwriter and senior directors to recruit, hire, and develop underwriting talent worldwide.
• Design and enhance onboarding, training, and performance‑management programs.
• Implement and refine underwriting workflows, including rule‑engine configurations and quality‑assurance testing.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of life underwriting experience (U.S. underwriting preferred).
• 7+ years in underwriting leadership or development roles.
• Relevant certifications such as LOMA or ALU are highly beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of life‑insurance trends and emerging technologies.
• Data‑driven decision‑making with a proven track record of timely execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
