Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer - DB2 Reliability

About the role

Ensono is looking for a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer focused on DB2 reliability. The role blends traditional DB2 administration with platform engineering, automation, and resilience design to ensure mission‑critical data services stay available, recoverable, and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑availability, disaster‑recovery, and data‑replication solutions for DB2 environments.
• Develop automated resiliency workflows, including failover, recovery validation, and operational runbooks.
• Build and maintain data‑movement frameworks that guarantee data integrity across multiple platforms.
• Create observability dashboards, monitoring alerts, and reliability metrics to proactively detect issues.
• Drive continuous improvement through root‑cause analysis, reliability‑engineering practices, and platform modernization.
• Develop Infrastructure‑as‑Code, automation, and self‑service tooling to reduce operational effort.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and database teams to deliver end‑to‑end resilient data services.
• Support disaster‑recovery exercises, failover testing, and operational readiness planning.

Required profile

• Strong experience with IBM Db2 and enterprise data platforms.
• Deep understanding of data replication, high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience patterns.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting/programming languages such as Python or Shell.
• Hands‑on experience with automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and operational‑excellence practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.
