Senior Linux Systems Engineer (7-9 yrs)

About the role

We are looking for a senior Linux Systems Engineer to manage and optimise our production infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and performance of Linux servers across multiple distributions.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer and troubleshoot SUSE, Ubuntu, Debian and Rocky Linux environments.
• Manage OS upgrades, patching, package management and system configuration.
• Support VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and Proxmox for VM and container lifecycle management.
• Maintain NFS and CIFS/SMB file shares and oversee storage connectivity, capacity and performance.
• Diagnose hardware, BIOS, firmware and out‑of‑band management issues in data‑center environments.
• Monitor system health, resource utilisation and implement security hardening, patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Develop automation scripts (Bash, Python, Perl) and orchestrate tasks with Ansible or Salt.
• Provide advanced production support, perform root‑cause analysis and collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, Networking, Storage and Security teams.
• Document configurations, procedures, runbooks and maintain operational knowledge bases.

Required profile

• 7–9 years of hands‑on experience in Linux system administration.
• Strong knowledge of Linux kernels, filesystems, init systems and networking.
• Proven experience with VMware and Proxmox virtualization platforms.
• Experience with storage protocols such as NFS and CIFS/SMB.
• Hands‑on automation experience using Ansible or Salt and scripting in Bash/Python/Perl.
• Familiarity with public cloud services (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
