Senior Life Underwriter

About the role

We are looking for an experienced life insurance underwriter who is passionate about the profession and wants to join a fast‑growing insurtech team. You will work in a collaborative environment where your opinion matters and help shape the future of life‑insurance underwriting.

Key responsibilities

• Understand underwriting policies, guidelines, practices and procedures.
• Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk by evaluating medical history, physical condition, occupational hazards, and financial background.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly in both written and verbal formats.
• Influence and champion process improvements while maintaining mortality expectations.
• Gather necessary information efficiently to support decision‑making.
• Work independently on assigned requests with minimal direction.
• Navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing requirements.

Required profile

• 5–7+ years of experience in medical Life/Health underwriting (US experience a plus).
• Demonstrated knowledge of risk selection across medical, non‑medical, and financial dimensions.
• Strong critical‑thinking and independent problem‑solving abilities.
• Positive, inclusive, agile, and collaborative mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience underwriting both term and permanent life insurance products.

Required skills

• Experience assessing and summarizing Attending Physician Statements (APS) and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Relevant industry designations (e.g., LOMA, ALMI, FMLI, ALU, FALU) preferred.
