Senior Healthcare Support Worker – Orthopaedic Team

About the role

The NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital is seeking a motivated Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join its Orthopaedic Nursing Team in the 4 East Orthopaedics unit. This permanent position offers the chance to support patients throughout their surgical journey in Scotland's leading national elective orthopaedic centre.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nurses with personal care, skin care, nutrition and hydration.
• Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation and blood glucose.
• Support admissions, discharges and patient transfers under RN supervision.
• Perform enhanced clinical duties including venepuncture, ECG recording, wound care, MRSA screening and urinalysis.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment through housekeeping and environmental duties.
• Provide clerical, portering and administrative assistance as needed.

Required profile

• SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
• Experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic IT proficiency.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Understanding of Data Protection, Caldicott principles and patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
