Senior Engineer – Wet Utilities (Infrastructure & Non‑Infrastructure)

About the role

Senior Engineer – Wet Utilities (Infrastructure & Non‑Infrastructure) will join AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team in Bengaluru, supporting design and delivery of water, wastewater and stormwater projects. The role involves detailed civil design, hydraulic modelling and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out detailed civil design of water, wastewater and stormwater networks, including pipelines, pump stations and ancillary structures.
• Develop designs from feasibility studies through optioneering to detailed design, prepare technical reports and challenge hydraulic model solutions.
• Apply British Standards, Eurocodes and other relevant design standards to buried pipework, thrust blocks, maintenance holes and chambers.
• Prepare topographic and utility survey briefs and review outputs from laser scanning, drone surveys, GPR, trial holes and boreholes.
• Review and produce Civil 3D models, generate design sketches and, where required, verify pump‑station models in Revit.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Environment or related field.
• 5‑8 years of experience planning, designing and detailing water assets.
• Professional qualification in progress or achieved (e.g., C.Eng. ICE, C.Eng. IET, C.WEM CIWEM).
• Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and capacity to meet deadlines under pressure.

Required skills

• Hydraulic design of clean‑water and wastewater pipelines.
• Knowledge of pipe fittings, valves, directional drilling and structure detailing (sewer maintenance, drop holes, outfalls).
• Proficiency with Civil 3D and basic Revit for pump‑station layout.
• Experience with laser scanning, drone surveying, Ground Penetrating Radar, trial holes and borehole data.
• Familiarity with British Standards, Eurocodes and other relevant design codes.
