Senior Electrical Engineer – HVDC Substations

About the role

Responsible for the design, engineering, and execution support of HVDC substation systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards and client requirements. The role involves close collaboration with OEMs, consultants and cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable high‑voltage DC infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and engineer HVDC substation systems, including converter stations, transformers, smoothing reactors, filters and switchgear.
• Prepare and review single line diagrams, layout drawings, grounding systems and cable routing for HVDC substations.
• Coordinate with OEMs, consultants and internal teams for design integration and vendor drawing approvals.
• Review and approve vendor datasheets, technical specifications and ensure they meet IEC, IEEE and client standards.
• Develop technical reports, bills of quantities and comprehensive documentation while maintaining safety and performance criteria.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience in HVDC technology, substation design and power transmission projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Proven communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with international standards such as IEC and IEEE.

Required skills

• HVDC technology (LCC/VSC systems).
• Substation design (AIS/GIS) and power transmission engineering.
• Protection and control systems for HVDC substations.
• Harmonic filters, reactive power compensation and insulation coordination.
• Engineering tools: AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD.
• Power system analysis and grounding design expertise.
