Senior Elastic Engineer

About the role

The Senior Elastic Engineer will lead the design, optimisation and strategic evolution of enterprise Elastic environments that power security and observability use cases. This role blends hands‑on engineering with architectural leadership to ensure scalability, resilience and cost‑effective operation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce best‑practice architecture for Elastic clusters, including scalability, resilience and lifecycle management.
• Design, build and optimise ingestion pipelines, data models and ECS‑aligned normalisation.
• Lead large‑scale Elastic Agent and Fleet deployments for endpoint and observability telemetry.
• Design and manage AWS‑backed Elastic infrastructure (S3, compute, networking, IAM) and production‑grade CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor and optimise cost drivers across compute, storage, ingestion and retention.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Develop advanced Kibana dashboards, detection workflows and executive reporting.
• Partner with detection engineering and leadership to define roadmap priorities and improve platform reliability.
• Mentor engineers, review technical designs and contribute to platform roadmap planning.

Required profile

• Elastic Certified Engineer and Elastic Certified Observability Engineer.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with enterprise Elastic environments.
• Proven background in cybersecurity, threat detection and defensive operations.
• Strong experience with Elastic Security and Elastic Observability.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Elasticsearch architecture, indexing, sharding, replication and query performance.
• Expertise in Elasticsearch template optimisation, relevance tuning and Query DSL.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, Java or Ruby for automation.
• Experience with Logstash, Elastic Agent, Fleet and Elastic Common Schema (ECS).
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services (S3, IAM, compute, networking) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
• Ability to design CI/CD pipelines and implement snapshot, retention and archival strategies.
• Skill in building Kibana dashboards and observability views.
