Senior Data Governance Engineer – Azure & Databricks

About the role

PWC is seeking a Senior Data Governance Engineer to lead the design and implementation of data governance frameworks within its Azure and Databricks environment. The role focuses on ensuring data quality, security, compliance and accessibility across the organisation’s data assets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain enterprise‑wide data governance policies, procedures and standards in Azure.
• Use Azure Purview to manage data catalogs, lineage, classification and metadata across multiple sources.
• Design and enforce data access controls, stewardship models and compliance mechanisms.
• Collaborate with data engineering, security, compliance and business teams to embed governance into data pipelines.
• Leverage Databricks Unity Catalog and, where applicable, Databricks Genie for orchestration and cataloguing.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data governance within large, cloud‑based data platforms.
• Strong understanding of Azure ecosystem and Databricks services.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical governance solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
