Senior Data Engineer – Data & Marketing

About the role

The Senior Engineer will design and deliver end‑to‑end data solutions that enable business intelligence, regulatory reporting and strategic decision‑making. Working within a multidisciplinary squad, you will source, extract, move and model data to create robust data assets and reporting capabilities for ANZ’s Data & Marketing division.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to system and application design in line with ANZ technical standards.
• Participate in full‑cycle development, from requirements gathering to secure data delivery.
• Ensure compliance with ANZ Group policies, information strategy and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain data quality through governance, control standards and performance tuning.
• Provide timely production support and follow change and problem‑management processes.
• Offer technical guidance via code reviews and lead architectural decisions.
• Mentor peers and junior team members to foster skill development.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing end‑to‑end data warehousing solutions using a broad technology stack.
• Hands‑on expertise with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Spark and Astronomer.
• Strong proficiency in SQL‑based RDBMS platforms, including query optimisation, indexing and execution‑plan analysis.
• Solid programming skills in Python, following object‑oriented principles and test‑driven development.
