Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript)

About the role

Cult, part of Curefit, is building India’s largest fitness platform that powers group workouts, gym sessions and habit‑building experiences for millions. The Member Experience team is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop and scale the APIs and micro‑services that keep members engaged.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain high‑performance REST APIs and micro‑services for group workouts, gym sessions and retention features.
• Integrate internal tools and customer‑facing services while continuously improving product value.
• Perform performance tuning, latency analysis and reliability engineering to ensure system responsiveness at scale.
• Develop AI‑assisted workflows and agent‑based tooling that boost engineering productivity.
• Collaborate with product, data and front‑end teams to deliver end‑to‑end features.

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend development experience in a product‑focused company.
• Strong ownership mindset – you drive features from design through rollout and iteration.
• Proactive risk identification and a habit of writing maintainable code for high‑availability scenarios.
• Genuine interest in how AI tools can accelerate software delivery.

Required skills

• Node.js and TypeScript (deep expertise) or Java with Spring Boot (working familiarity).
• Designing robust REST APIs – versioning, idempotency, error handling and authentication.
• SQL databases and at least one NoSQL store such as Redis or MongoDB.
• Understanding of latency, retries, failure modes and performance tuning.
