Senior Associate – Payments Architecture (IT Strategy)

About the role

PwC is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Advisory line of service, focusing on Application and Emerging Technology services. The role will help clients identify, prioritize, and integrate emerging payment technologies to solve business challenges and drive innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple client engagements while reporting to managers and senior leaders.
• Train, mentor, and lead junior staff.
• Build and maintain effective relationships directly with clients.
• Contribute to the development of technical expertise within the team.
• Stay current on local and national business and economic trends.
• Participate in business development activities and identify new opportunities.
• Lead complex transformation projects from strategy and design through delivery.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional architecture teams to set direction for key initiatives.
• Balance speed‑to‑market, quality, and financial impacts.
• Provide technical leadership across tools, technologies, testing methodologies, and architecture models.
• Communicate designs and solutions to CXOs and senior stakeholders.
• Develop and lead proposals/RFPs in partnership with network firms.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience in payments and technology architecture.
• Proven governance and oversight of change alignment with strategic goals.
• Strong problem‑solving skills handling complex transformation projects.
• Broad knowledge of P2P, B2B, B2C, G2P payment applications, channels, and ISO specifications (ISO 20022, ISO 8583).
• Experience with middleware, integration platforms, databases, servers, and SAN storage.
• Deep understanding of cloud and on‑premise infrastructure, data security, and PCI DSS/PA DSS compliance.
• Proactive leadership with the ability to drive design and implementation.
• 1‑2 years of international experience managing payment transformation projects.
• Familiarity with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, and Rational Unified Process.
