Senior Applied Value Engineer – Energy, Oil & Gas

About the role

As a Senior Applied Value Engineer you will work with Celonis' most strategic customers in the energy, oil and gas sector, translating their AI strategies into concrete, high‑impact solutions. Leveraging Celonis’ Process Intelligence platform together with leading AI technologies from Microsoft, OpenAI and others, you will prototype and deliver AI‑enabled use cases that drive measurable ROI.

Key responsibilities

• Understand customers’ AI strategies and business challenges, and design innovative, context‑aware AI solutions.
• Lead hackathons and rapid‑prototype sessions using cutting‑edge generative AI technologies.
• Deliver end‑to‑end Proof‑of‑Value projects, including architecture, secure LLM/agent deployment, and integration with enterprise data and compliance frameworks.
• Ensure successful project outcomes by staying engaged until agreed value and adoption thresholds are met.

Required profile

• 6+ years of technical pre‑sales experience, including AI roadmap definition and ROI/TCO business case development.
• Strong understanding of generative AI techniques such as RAG, few‑shot learning, prompt engineering, and multi‑agent orchestration.
• Ability to translate high‑level business needs in sectors like supply chain or finance into specific AI use cases.
• Excellent presentation skills for executive audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field preferred.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• ML libraries and frameworks: LangChain, pandas, pydantic, scikit‑learn, PyTorch.
• Generative AI tooling: RAG, prompt engineering, multi‑agent orchestration.
• Experience with LLM ecosystem tools such as LlamaIndex.
• Cloud AI services: AWS Bedrock, Azure AI, GCP Vertex.
