Senior AI Engineer, Agentic AI

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design and deliver production‑grade Agentic AI and Generative AI solutions that accelerate engineering, manufacturing, service, and R&D workflows. The engineer will own the full lifecycle of AI products, from development through monitoring, optimization, and scaling, working closely with product and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy LLM applications, RAG systems, multi‑agent workflows, and scientific AI solutions for engineering co‑pilots and knowledge assistants.
• Fine‑tune foundation models, build embedding pipelines, vector‑search systems, and agent orchestration frameworks.
• Evaluate model performance, hallucination rates, and business impact.
• Develop production‑quality services using Python, FastAPI, LangGraph, LangChain, and Semantic Kernel, and expose them via APIs.
• Integrate AI solutions with Databricks, Azure AI Foundry, and AWS.
• Mentor junior engineers, define architectures, establish best practices, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or Software Engineering.
• 5–8 years of software engineering or machine‑learning experience, with end‑to‑end product delivery.
• 2+ years of hands‑on Generative AI experience, including LLM development and deployment.
• Strong understanding of system design, SDLC, and cloud‑native architectures.
• Ability to interpret business challenges and propose AI‑driven solutions.
