Seating Engineer – Design Engineer for Seat Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Seating Engineer to lead the design of complete seat systems, including structures, mechanisms, and related components. The role involves creating detailed 3D models, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality seating solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design seat structures, mechanisms, OB/IB valances, headrests, mounting brackets, and complete seat assemblies.
• Develop parametric 3D models in CATIA V5/V6, maintaining editable history and adhering to drawing standards.
• Conduct packaging studies, environmental checks, and kinematics simulations where applicable.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Validate that subsystems meet interface, DVA, optical, and perceived quality targets.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for all designed components.
• Maintain up‑to‑date CAD data and provide support throughout the program timeline.
• Coordinate with design, studio, legal, packaging, and other stakeholders to meet project deliverables.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in automotive seat system design.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of CATIA V5/V6 workbenches (Generative Shape Design, Part Design, Kinematics, Assembly, Drawing).
• Familiarity with 3DExperience, Teamcenter, and visualization mock‑up tools.
• Good understanding of GD&T, DFM, DFA, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in an agile environment.
