Scrap Metal Laborer – Sorting & Machine Operation

About the role

Charter Manufacturing is seeking a reliable Laborer to join its scrap metal yard. You will be responsible for sorting, cleaning, and preparing scrap metal for customers while operating essential yard equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Sort, separate, and clean scrap metal in the yard.
• Operate bailing and shearing machines for metal and cardboard processing.
• Weigh small scrap metal orders accurately for customers.
• Maintain a safe work environment and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong teamwork attitude and ability to follow instructions.
• Physical capability to meet job demands, with reasonable accommodation as needed.

Required skills

• Operating bailing machines.
• Operating shearing machines.
• Weighing and measuring scrap metal.
