Science Writer – Video Script & Voiceover Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Science Writer to transform author‑submitted manuscripts into clear, engaging voice‑over transcripts and video scripts. You will work closely with researchers to guide their content through the JoVE video creation process and ensure scientific accuracy throughout.

Key responsibilities

• Convert manuscripts into voice‑over transcripts and video scripts.
• Collaborate with authors to navigate the video creation workflow.
• Proofread and edit scripts for scientific accuracy, clarity, and error‑free content.
• Interpret scientific feedback and implement precise revisions.
• Utilize AI‑assisted writing and editing tools as part of the workflow.
• Review journal protocol videos for compliance with publication standards.
• Assess author feedback on draft videos and communicate revisions to the editing team.
• Manage multiple projects while meeting strict production timelines.
• Identify and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.

Required profile

• PhD in biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, chemistry, or a related natural science discipline.
• 1‑3 years of experience in scientific communication, technical writing, or educational content creation.
• Strong scientific and technical vocabulary with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven editing and proofreading ability.
• High attention to detail and ability to spot scientific inaccuracies.
• Strong organizational skills, capable of multitasking and meeting tight deadlines.
• Enthusiasm for science and willingness to learn new research areas.
• Record of original research published in peer‑reviewed journals is strongly preferred.
