School Helper – Cleaning & Maintenance Support

About the role

We are seeking a reliable School Helper to provide general support and maintain cleanliness throughout our school premises. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a safe, hygienic environment that supports the wellbeing and learning of our children and students. Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning duties in classrooms, offices, restrooms, corridors, and other common areas.
• Ensure that hygiene standards are consistently met and that health & safety policies are followed.
• Monitor, replenish and report on cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment inventory.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and pressure washers safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators and other staff to address specific cleaning or maintenance needs promptly.
• Identify and report any potential safeguarding or safety concerns observed during duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in cleaning, janitorial or facilities maintenance roles.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, lift equipment and stand for extended periods.
• Commitment to the school’s safeguarding and health & safety principles.

Required skills

• Strong cleaning and organisational abilities.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in maintaining standards.
• Knowledge of cleaning best practices and safe use of cleaning equipment.
