SAP Developer – HR Authorizations in SAP HCM

About the role

The SAP Developer will specialize in HR authorizations within SAP HCM, ensuring secure and compliant access to sensitive personnel data. You will join BASF’s Digital Hub in Hyderabad, working closely with HR and IT teams to design, implement, and maintain robust authorization concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Implement SAP security fundamentals, including role and authorization concepts such as least‑privilege and segregation of duties.
• Maintain roles using PFCG and manage user accounts (SU01).
• Troubleshoot authorizations with tools like SU53, ST01 and STAUTHTRACE.
• Develop HCM‑specific authorization logic based on infotypes, subtypes, personnel areas, groups and payroll relevance.
• Configure structural authorizations for organizational units, positions and reporting lines.
• Support customizations and enhancements related to authorizations, using ABAP for read/debug checks.
• Collaborate on Identity and Access Management processes for joiner, mover and leaver scenarios.
• Participate in GRC/IGA processes, access reviews, recertifications and audit‑proof documentation.
• Handle incident, problem and transport management activities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of SAP HCM core processes (hire, transfer, termination).
• Knowledge of HR master‑data sensitivities and payroll relevance.
• Experience with SAP security tools and authorization troubleshooting.
• Ability to communicate clearly with HR and business stakeholders.
