Safety Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Safety Officer to lead and maintain a safe working environment across our plant. The role involves implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, ensuring statutory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor all EHS policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, identify unsafe conditions and acts.
• Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, State Factory Rules and other applicable regulations.
• Organise safety induction training for new employees, contractors and visitors.
• Deliver regular toolbox talks, mock drills and safety awareness programmes.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor PPE usage and enforce compliance across departments.
• Issue and manage work permits (hot work, height work, confined space, electrical isolation, etc.).
• Coordinate fire‑safety activities, emergency response and evacuation drills.
• Maintain statutory records, safety registers and EHS documentation.
• Liaise with government authorities during inspections and audits.
• Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to company safety requirements.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly safety reports and MIS.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Engineering or Science.
• Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (DIS/ADIS/PGDIS or equivalent).
• 3–8 years of experience as a Safety Officer in manufacturing, distillery, bottling, FMCG, chemical or process industry.

• Fire‑safety expertise and risk‑assessment capability.
• Emergency preparedness and incident‑investigation skills.
• Root‑cause analysis.
• Proficiency with MS Office and report preparation.
