Rolling Stock Manufacturing Inspector

About the role
The Rolling Stock Manufacturing Inspector will join RINA’s Electronics and System Engineering Division in Mumbai, ensuring that locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, coaches and metro trains are built to the required technical specifications, standards and quality criteria. The role covers inspection, verification and documentation throughout fabrication, assembly, testing and final acceptance.
Key responsibilities
- Perform in‑process and final inspections of rolling‑stock components and assemblies.
- Conduct witness and hold‑point inspections according to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Identify non‑conformities, document NCRs and track corrective actions.
- Inspect welded structures for EN 15085 compliance and review welding procedures, qualifications and welder certifications.
- Carry out visual and dimensional checks on car‑body structures and critical joints (screwing, bolting, gluing, hybrid).
- Verify installation of electrical wiring, panels and onboard systems, ensuring correct routing, termination and labeling.
- Witness functional, routine, type and acceptance tests (FAI, FAT, SAT, SIT, static and dynamic tests) and validate test reports.
- Maintain detailed inspection records, quality reports and checklists; review manufacturing dossiers and certification packages.
- Ensure traceability of materials and components and conduct audits at supplier facilities.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in rolling‑stock manufacturing, inspection or quality assurance.
- Familiarity with major systems such as car‑body, bogies, electrical/traction and train integration.
- Knowledge of relevant standards (EN 15085, EN 12663, EN 45545, IEC) and quality processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and pneumatic schematics.
