Road Operations Manager

About the role

The Road Operations Manager is responsible for end‑to‑end dispatch planning, fleet coordination and vendor management to ensure timely and cost‑effective delivery of goods from the plant. You will work closely with production, logistics and vendor teams to optimise road transport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate orders to transporters via the vendor portal and monitor order acceptance for dispatch planning.
• Track STO movements, review logistics MIS daily/weekly and discuss performance indicators with plant heads.
• Manage daily fleet requirements, prioritize movements, and monitor truck yard management system.
• Evaluate loading infrastructure, assign time windows, and ensure compliance with Sales & Operations Planning.
• Provide order visibility to vendors, coordinate loading schedules, and handle short‑notice fleet deployments.
• Conduct cost analysis (per ton per km), route mapping and alternative freight options.
• Maintain a database of vendor trucks, educate vendors, and resolve freight payment disputes.
• Ensure safety compliance, conduct defensive driving training and road‑safety awareness for drivers and vendors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in logistics, road dispatch or transportation operations.
• Strong analytical skills to monitor MIS and performance metrics.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent problem‑solving attitude for improving truck turnaround time.
