Reliability & Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Reliability & Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and availability of all refrigeration, power backup, and electrical systems. This role involves proactive maintenance, rapid fault resolution, and detailed reporting to keep cold‑chain operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) for refrigeration systems, including tropical, chilled and frozen rooms.
• Monitor and maintain temperature parameters in accordance with SOPs and respond to temperature excursions.
• Inspect and service compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves and refrigerant piping; perform leak detection and refrigerant level checks.
• Maintain defrost cycles, drain lines and insulation integrity of cold rooms.
• Coordinate with OEMs and third‑party service providers for specialized repairs and annual contracts.
• Diagnose and resolve refrigeration faults such as compressor failures, refrigerant leaks, thermostat issues and evaporator icing.
• Maintain diesel generator sets, perform load‑bank testing and monitor fuel, coolant and battery health.
• Carry out preventive and predictive maintenance on UPS systems, including battery health checks and firmware updates.
• Test and maintain electrical distribution panels (MDB, SDB, ATS) and conduct insulation resistance, earth resistance and thermography surveys.
• Generate daily, weekly and monthly equipment status and performance reports, including MTBF, MTTR and energy consumption analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience in preventive maintenance of refrigeration and cold‑chain equipment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, PLCs and Building Management System (BMS) interfaces.
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis and produce detailed technical reports.
• Familiarity with compliance to electrical safety standards and statutory requirements.
