Registered Nurse – Acute Care

About the role

The Registered Nurse will join the multidisciplinary team at Deep River and District Health, delivering high‑quality acute care to patients and supporting their families. Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services – Acute Care, the RN works collaboratively to coordinate and implement patient‑centered care plans.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and education to patients and families in an acute care setting.
• Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Adhere to all organizational policies, accreditation standards, and provincial regulations.
• Document patient information accurately using electronic health record systems.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain a safe clinical environment.

Required profile

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent education and relevant experience.
• Recent clinical experience in an acute care environment, preferably with pediatric exposure.
• Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Commitment to patient safety, excellent attendance, and ability to perform under high‑stress conditions.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtain within six months of hire).
• Lead ECG Interpretation Course (or obtain within six months of hire).
• CTAS Course (or obtain within six months of hire).
• TNCC and PALS certifications (preferred).
• Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Certificate (preferred).
• Computer literacy and experience with electronic documentation.
