R&D Principal Technologist – Product Development

About the role

AVEVA is looking for an experienced R&D Principal Technologist to lead product development within the PI Visualization team in Bangalore. You will provide technical direction, drive architecture decisions, and mentor a cross‑functional engineering group while delivering high‑impact, secure software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and design scalable, maintainable solutions with backward compatibility.
• Lead delivery of complex, high‑risk features and contribute hands‑on code when needed.
• Ensure engineering quality through code reviews, test strategies, definition of done, and regression control.
• Drive secure engineering practices, including authentication flows, dependency risk management, and vulnerability remediation.
• Coordinate cross‑team dependencies and integrations across platform, data, setup/release, and key integration points.
• Own production readiness and reliability, covering observability, performance, release risk assessment, and rollback planning.
• Shape backlog and delivery plans, providing technical input to Product Owners and translating themes into executable plans with realistic timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of full‑stack development experience, including at least 3 years as a technical lead.
• Strong expertise in enterprise web applications using C#/.NET and modern JavaScript/UI frameworks (Angular, jQuery).
• Deep understanding of object‑oriented design, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Proven ability to embed security‑by‑design principles into software solutions.
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
