Purchasing Specialist – Bought-Out Components

About the role

We are looking for a Purchasing Specialist focused on bought‑out components, assemblies and equipment for mining and mineral processing machinery. The role ensures a reliable supply chain, drives cost optimisation and supports project execution while upholding quality and sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement of bought‑out components, assemblies and equipment from approved suppliers.
• Execute RFQs, perform bid analysis, negotiate commercially and issue purchase orders.
• Identify and develop new suppliers to improve cost competitiveness and supply reliability.
• Support localisation and supplier development initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers and monitor performance through KPIs such as on‑time delivery, quality (PPM/rejection rate), cost and responsiveness.
• Conduct supplier reviews and participate in audits.
• Lead cost‑reduction initiatives through value engineering and strategic sourcing.
• Analyse market trends, raw‑material movements and supplier cost structures to support budgeting and cost‑saving targets.
• Ensure material availability for production schedules and project timelines by collaborating with planning, manufacturing, engineering and logistics teams.
• Monitor inventory levels, optimise working capital and manage expediting for critical deliveries.
• Negotiate commercial terms, contracts and service agreements while ensuring compliance with procurement policies, ethical sourcing and regulatory requirements.
• Support ESG and sustainability initiatives across the supply base.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, production planning and finance on technical clarifications, quality issues, material requirements and cost control.
• Participate in new product development and sourcing projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field; MBA or specialised procurement qualification preferred.
• 3–8 years of procurement experience in mining equipment manufacturing, heavy engineering, industrial machinery or capital equipment.
