Procurement Operations Specialist

About the role

IBM Finance & Operations is seeking a Procurement Operations Specialist to drive end‑to‑end procurement activities, vendor onboarding, and contract management. The role supports global IBM teams by ensuring efficient purchasing, cost savings, and compliance with client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Procure basic goods and services, obtain quotations, and manage vendor onboarding and relationships.
• Review requisition requirements, identify non‑catalog purchases, and source items from the master file.
• Negotiate cost savings and terms for non‑contracted sources and interpret contract details.
• Handle low‑value purchase services, confirm pricing and delivery, and manage purchase order receipt.
• Maintain ERP tools, supplier documentation, and audit‑ready purchasing records.
• Set up new suppliers, interface with clients and suppliers on payment issues, and produce reporting using MS Excel.

Required profile

• Good communication skills with the ability to interact and convey information effectively.
• 1‑3 years of experience in procurement, preferably as an Operations Buyer for global organizations.
• Familiarity with contracting concepts and client‑specific procurement processes.
• Ability to work in the North America time zone (7:30 PM – 4:30 AM IST).

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP procurement tools.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
