Principal Structural Engineer - Water

About the role

The Principal Structural Engineer – Water will provide technical leadership and project management for complex structural engineering projects related to water infrastructure. You will oversee design, analysis, and delivery of industrial, water‑retaining and earth‑retaining structures, ensuring they meet safety, quality and budget requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction and overall planning of structural projects from inception to completion.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, lead offices and external stakeholders to manage scope, schedule, cost and quality.
• Provide expert guidance on reinforced concrete and steel design, ensuring compliance with international codes.
• Prepare cost estimates, support bids and tenders, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in structural engineering, especially industrial, water‑retaining and earth‑retaining structures.
• Proven ability to independently lead projects and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong commercial, managerial and technical project management skills.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed, multicultural teams.
• Progress toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is advantageous.

Required skills

• Design of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Proficiency with MIDAS, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 and Autodesk Robot.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes and American design codes.
• Use of BIM/CAD tools for structural modelling and documentation.
• Understanding of safety‑in‑design principles and quality control reviews.
