Principal Software Engineer

About the role

As a Principal Software Engineer you will lead the design, development and maintenance of Aurora Networks' Service Assurance software products. You will work in an Agile environment, collaborating with product management and quality assurance to deliver high‑impact, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product management to clarify requirements and explore innovative solutions.
• Design and develop optimized, performant, scalable and secure software components.
• Ensure system quality through comprehensive unit testing and coordination with QA engineers.
• Create work breakdown structures, estimates and commit to deadlines.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience (or 10+ years with a Master’s) building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience in telecom or cable network management applications is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin and Python.
• Deep knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience with data pipelines such as Kafka, Apache Airflow and RabbitMQ.
• Hands‑on expertise with Docker, Kubernetes and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Network programming (Sockets, TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, gNMI/gRPC) and Linux‑based distributed applications.
