Principal Engineer – Plumbing, HVAC & Fire (MEP)

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead plumbing, HVAC and fire‑fighting design for large‑scale projects in Gurugram. The role involves delivering detailed MEP solutions for data centres, healthcare, retail and hospitality environments while ensuring compliance with international codes.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and correlate engineering data using established procedures.
• Perform detailed calculations and routine engineering assignments.
• Propose innovative approaches to solve new design challenges.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to entry‑level engineers.
• Conduct quality‑control reviews of design calculations and drawings.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in GDC‑type environments, preferably on retail, hospitality, data‑center or healthcare projects.
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, CIBSE and NFPA standards.
• Experience across commercial, residential and infrastructure projects in the Middle East, USA, Canada or ANZ.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.

Required skills

• Plumbing and fire‑fighting design.
• Proficiency with Revit.
• Familiarity with international codes (NFPA, ME, IPC).
• Knowledge of ASHRAE and CIBSE standards.
• Energy‑modeling tools such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus or IES‑VE.
