Principal Architect

About the role

WSP India is seeking a Principal Architect to lead the architectural discipline on complex projects. The role combines technical leadership, design quality assurance, and mentorship of the site team.

Key responsibilities

• Review and evaluate architectural designs for compliance with regulations, standards and project guidelines.
• Provide technical direction to project teams, ensuring design solutions meet business requirements and architectural principles.
• Develop and maintain design standards, BIM guidelines and best‑practice documentation.
• Identify, assess and mitigate design risks through collaboration with designers, engineers and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with statutory and local authorities to secure design approvals.
• Lead quality‑management system (QMS) and project life‑cycle compliance across all project phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 12 years of professional experience, including senior leadership on large‑scale projects.
• Proven experience delivering projects in the Middle East.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage time, quality and budget targets.
• Excellent analytical, technical writing and communication skills.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of BIM processes – model coordination, clash detection and change management.
• Deep understanding of architectural regulations, standards and guidelines.
• Proficiency in developing and applying architectural design standards.
