Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer

About the role

The Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer will design, develop and oversee the installation of plumbing and fire protection systems across a range of construction projects. Working closely with architects, project managers and contractors, the role ensures that all systems meet local codes, performance standards and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed designs, plans and specifications for plumbing and fire protection systems in line with local regulations.
• Interpret architectural drawings to determine system sizing and scope.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate systems into overall project designs.
• Conduct site visits to inspect installation progress and verify compliance.
• Supervise installation activities, providing guidance to contractors and ensuring industry standards are met.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, including pipe sizing, pressure drop and flow rate analysis.
• Troubleshoot system issues during construction and post‑completion phases.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, codes and standards to improve design efficiency.
• Coordinate technical reviews, peer reviews and quality assurance with the local GCC Head of MEP.

Required profile

• Proven experience in designing plumbing and fire protection systems for construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes, fire safety regulations and Construction Design and Management (CDM) requirements.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings and assess project requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with architects, contractors and internal teams.
• Willingness to conduct regular site visits and provide on‑site supervision.
